Export Google Sheets to .xlsx without downloading Google Drive
The built-in Google Sheets download (File > Download > Microsoft Excel) requires you to be logged in. This converter works for any published sheet -- no account, no browser extension, no server upload. Your data is read directly from Google's public CSV endpoint and converted to .xlsx inside your browser.
Google Sheets to XLSX -- frequently asked questions
- Why does it say "sheet is not publicly accessible"?
- The sheet must be published to web. In Google Sheets go to File > Share > Publish to web and click Publish. Then copy the link and paste it here.
- Can I convert a private sheet?
- No. This tool is for published (public) sheets only. Private sheet support (OAuth) is not available here.
- Is my data safe?
- Yes. The conversion happens entirely in your browser -- no data is sent to our servers.
- What if I only want one tab / sheet?
- When publishing to web you can choose a specific sheet. The link will include a
gidparameter that identifies the tab -- paste that link and only that tab will be exported.
